  • Roger D. O'Kelly is the first Black Deaf male lawyer in the United States.

  • Claudia Gordon is the first Black Deaf female lawyer in the United States.

  • Derrick Coleman is the first Black Deaf offensive player in the National Football League (NFL).

  • Kenny Walker is the first Black Deaf NFL player. He played for Denver Bronco.

  • Ritchie Bryant is the first Black Deaf male President of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).\
